13 Weeks Pregnant

Hey dolls,
I am FINALLY in my 2nd trimester YAYY!!!! Today Kalvin and I had our first official ultrasound woohoo! We reached the doctors office around 9am and our appointment was at 9:20am so we were early. The minute I entered the office I was immediately escorted into the room which was surprising. As the lady squirted the cold gel on my stomach I felt a nervous rush of feeling down my spine and I didnt know why. Ultrasound are generally 20 mins or so, but in my case it took well over an hour. Our baby was sleeping and had his/her back turned towards the sonogram so we could not get any type of structure measurements. After coughing numerous times trying to get the baby to rotate, it finally CAVED in and did a 180 degrees turn lol. When we finally recieved all the measurements needed, the lady had called in Kalvin in her case he was my "husband" lol so that we can both view the images at the same time. Kalvin walked into the room and had the brightest smile ever!!!! He was so excited and even laughed before seeing the pictures. Once we saw the images my heart fluttered with butterflies<3 I just couldnt believe how big he or she was. It was such an incredible moment. Kalvin kept saying " awww its so cute" lol how adorable!! When we left the office we got a copy of the images on a CD.

Baby: Fingerprints have formed on our baby's fingertips. All his or her veins and organs are clearly visible. The baby is developing tiny bones in his/her arms and legs. The baby's vocal cords are also developing making it one step closer to saying Mommy and Daddy :)

Today was simply unforgettable for the both of us. There is no better way to describe the way we feel This baby is truly a blessing in our lives.

P.S Today I was confirmed 13 weeks pregnant and not 12 weeks :)

11.5 Weeks Pregnant

Hi Dolls, I know this is a delayed post but I have been caught up with school and work, but I am back to update you guys on my pregnancy. Today I am 11.5 weeks pregnant and it feels great. It was a tough 2 weeks for me because I started experiencing severe nausea and congestion problems. Some days are better than the others. There are times where I feel so sick and I don't even want to get out of bed. But guess what? there are certain things you can eat and drink to help calm the uncomfortable feeling. Here are my main two holy grail items:

1. Canada dry. Canada dry contains real ginger and is caffeine free so it helps soothes your stomach. It is safe to drink during pregnancy, but only in moderation.
2. Premium salted crackers: this is a great little snack especially when you are extremely bothered by the smell of strong odor. Salted crackers helps your stomach settle. By eating bland foods or snacks, you are less likely to feel nauseated.

I haven't gained any weight as of yet. My weight still remains the same around 122 pounds and I am almost in my second trimester. I've read and heard some stories about pregnant women gaining 5-6 pounds in the first trimester, but it obviously varies from person to person.

I am so thankful to have a partner who is caring and extremely supportive. He puts up with my mood swings and constant complain about my pains. He gets up during the night when I am tossing and turning just to make sure I am okay. He rubs my tummy when I need it. I think having a supportive partner during your pregnancy makes life much easier. I do feel sorry for him sometimes lol but hey what are daddy's for right??

Baby: The baby has all his parts such as tooth buds, nails, toes and fingers which have been fully separated. Our baby is kicking and stretching, keep in mind that you cant feel it until you are 18 -20 weeks pregnant. I cant wait till July 9th this will be the first time we will get to see our baby and have pictures. See you all at 13 weeks.

Our Baby's 1st Heartbeat

Hey Dolls, on June 27th I went to see my OBGYN for the first time. Who knew the wait would take extremely long just for a 15 mins consultant. During our appointment, we had the chance to listen to our little ones heart beat. It was the most precious sound we ever heard. We have an active little one because when our obgyn tried to find the babys heart beat, the baby itself was tossing and turning =) Kalvin did capture the video and my initial reaction listening to the heartbeat. At that very moment it really dawn on me that I was bringing in a little one into this world. Enjoy the video...

8.5 Weeks Pregnant

As of today I am officially 8.5 weeks pregnant yay how exciting! Our fetus is the size of a tadpole. This week the baby's gonads will become either testes or ovaries. I am simply amazed at how babies really form in such a short period of time. Kalvin is hoping for a boy but as for me I just want a healthy baby. So to answer some questions

1. How far along are you? 8.5 weeks
2. Total weight gain? my weight fluctuates between 1-2 pounds gained
3. Stretch marks? No
4. Sleeping habits? I am usually tired in the afternoon and prefer to take naps :) But I 5. usually wake up during the night around 4:00am to use the bathroom
5. Food cravings? not so much, maybe a popsicle here and there but nothing too drastic.
6. Queasiness? Definitely! The smell of MEAT in general makes my stomach churn.
7. Are you showing?  A tiny bit. My stomach is more firm this week thats for sure.
8. Gender prediction? Kalvin: boy Me: if I had to guess I would say a boy as well
9. Exercising? Yes I try to work out 3 times a week 45 mins per session. No weight lifting or hardcore cardio work out.

This week has been a blessed time for me. No morning sickness at all. Perhaps I have a few times where I feel queasy but it never gets to a point where I would physically throw up.

I guess I should also mention that at 7.5 weeks I was experiencing insane abdominal cramping. It would feel very painful and uncomfortable to sleep or sit. I was advised to take an emergency ultrasound by my family physician. Turns out, everything was fine and the baby was healthy. I remember seeing the ultrasound for the first time with Kalvin. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing! Kalvin was simply graced by the baby's picture and couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear. It was a blissful moment for the two of us.

This is what our baby looks like now at 8.5 weeks. If you ask me, it looks like an alien lol but a cute one of course

Initial Reactions

How I found Out..

It was on May 16 2012 when we discovered I was officially pregnant. At the beginning of May I knew something was off when I was experiencing pregnancy symptoms such as: sensitivity to smells especially meat produce, abdominal pains, and of course tender breasts. Has anyone ever heard of the saying " trusts yourself, you know more than you think you do"? Well, on May 16th I followed my intuition and went out and purchased 3 pregnancy tests just to be on the safe side :) . When I saw the first result I was absolutely blinded by the two lines indicating POSITIVE! The two words that I consistently uttered over and over were "NOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYY!!!"  I took the second test and then finally the third. All were positive. As a curled up in the bathroom just starring at the two lines, I just knew that I was officially bringing a mini Linda or Kalvin into this world...

How did you tell Kalvin?

Prior to telling Kalvin the good news I invited my bestfriend out to eat and asked for her opinions on ways I should break the news to Kalvin. After sharing ideas over lunch, we finally decided we might as well do it with a bang and tell him in a memorable way. I walked over to Walmart picked up a a baby photo album. Then I walked to old navy and purchased one of the cutest baby onezie saying "I love Daddy" . Finally I walked to Halmark and purchased a card. Telling Kalvin the pregnancy news was hard but extremely comical. I remember giving him the card after he returned from work. As he opened the envelope and saw the itty bitty baby drawings on the card he quickly replied with "babe what is this?" The card read" You're going to fall in love again with someones tender charms! You're going to be demolished by a pair of little arms! Yes, you're going to fall in love again. The signs are very clear! Get ready for a brand-new crush...As soon as baby's here" After reading the card Kalvin bursted out laughing and kept uttering " is this FOR REAL? are you serious?". I am almost sure all sorts of emotions were running through his mind. After settling down we had a intimate conversation discussing what will happen and from then on it was history...
